This workshop report zooms into methodological aspects of a concluded research in Cultural and Global Criminology, carried out in the field of scholarship on transnational policing and border-criminology. Herein I propose drawing as a methodological practice: as a method in field-research, as a tool for thinking and as a means for communicating research. I do so by sharing selected images from my PhD dissertation “policing-mobilities in the border-strip” (2021) and a resulting exhibition, which foregrounded methodological aspects for an academic audience. It titled “Splash page exhibition: visualization & visual engagement”. Situating this practice within the field of visual critical and cultural criminology and developments in creative ethnographic methods in anthropology, I reflect upon what drawing might offer to criminology as an epistemological as well as (re)presentational tool for (visual) knowledge production.
