"Welche Schule passt zu meinem Kind??"

Elterliche Schulwahlentscheidungen und die Frage der Passung im öffentlichen und privaten Grundschulwesen

Zusammenfassung: Im Fokus dieses Artikels steht die Frage, wie Passung im schulischen Kontext aus der Perspektive von Eltern hergestellt wird. Auf Basis von habitus- und kapitaltheoretischen sowie Rational-Choice-Ansätzen wird untersucht, inwieweit die elterliche Entscheidung für ein bestimmtes Schulprofil (religiös, reformpädagogisch, fremdsprachlich etc.) durch spezifische Schulwahlkriterien sowie das kulturelle und sozioökonomische Kapital der Familie vorhergesagt werden kann und welche Rolle hierbei die Trägerschaft der Schule (privat/öffentlich) spielt. Die auf einer standardisierten Befragung von 1296 Berliner Eltern der Einschulungsjahrgänge 2015/16 und 2016/17 beruhenden Befunde lassen sich als Ergebnis von sowohl habituell und kulturell als auch rational geprägten Entscheidungsprozessen interpretieren.

This article focuses on the question of how the notion of fit is produced in the school context from the perspective of parents. Based on habitus and capital-theoretic as well as rational-choice approaches, this study analyses the extent to which a parental decision for a certain school profile (religious, reform pedagogical, foreign-language, etc.) can be predicted by specific school choice criteria, socio-economic background and the cultural capital of families and what role the school´s sponsorship (private/public) plays here. The findings - which are based on a standardized survey of 1296 Berlin first graders´ parents in 2015 and 2016 - can be interpreted as the result of habitual, cultural and rational decision-making processes.
