How do we react when someone talks unfavourably about another person? We often don’t say a thing, because we want to avoid a situation that could end in an argument. Yet isn’t a democratic society created for just that – disagreeing, intervening when necessary, asking if something is unclear or, in short, communicating with each other? This can lead to arguments, to the fact that we might even question our own opinion or realize that some positions are incompatible. But it can also mean understanding and working together.
In this book, people that have had the courage to speak out, to contradict because they believe that democracy can only work when we face things in a couragous and inquisitive manner and communicate with each other, have the chance to tell their stories.
