• new approach to child and adolescent psychotherapy
• disorder-specific therapies
Metacognitive Therapy (MCT) is an approach that has evolved out of cognitive behavioural therapy, but, in contrast, focuses on thought content at the meta-level of how and why. Emotional stress is caused by the way people react to negative thoughts and beliefs. The goal is to distance yourself more from your own mental processes. The author has successfully transferred this approach to the treatment of children and adolescents. Following an introduction to the principles of MCT, there is a disorder-specific section with case studies, therapy dialogues and materials. The working materials contain questionnaires and instructions for therapeutic practice.
Target group
Child and adolescent psychotherapists and psychiatrists, psychologists in family counselling centres
