Fred and I

The first time Anni and Fred see each other is in a café. The second time, just half an hour later, at a frozen lake in which Anni bathes secretly every morning. The very next morning Fred dives into the ice-cold water with her. They come closer, cautiously, and Anni finds out that Fred is “trans”. All of a sudden new words are needed because the old ones can be either wrong or hurtful. A sensitive, life-affirming novel about first love in which everything feels new and wonderful.
