Malwine's greatest Christmas wish is for a dog. But her mother won't allow it since she already has her hands full. When her mother falls ill on Christmas Eve, Malwine has to do the last bit of shopping on her own. She takes the forbidden shortcut through the park and rescues a stray dog from a garbage can! Is this a sign? Does Peter, the homeless man, have something to do with it? The Christmas miracle takes its course and ends very differently than Malwine expects.
